Puerto Plata

Mesto skrito na severu Dominikanske republike še vedno omogoča počitnice, brez trume turistov, saj je še vedno nekoliko manj obiskano kot Punta Cana. Tu lahko doživite tipično dominikansko vzdušje in se ob tem sproščate ne eni izmed najdaljših peščenih plaž na otoku – Playa Grande. Puerto Plata in okolica je poznana predvsem po svojem vetru, saj privlači nešteto surferjev vseh vrst in iz celega sveta. Veter je ravno pravšnji da omogoča surfanjem obilico zabave na valovih in nič preglavic turistom na plažah. Med najbolj priljubljenimi kraji za surfanje se šteje Cabarete, kjer se je surfanje tudi prvič pojavilo in hitro razširilo po celi Dominikanski republiki.

Santo Domingo

Območje Dominikanske republike je bilo eno izmed prvih poseljenih območij novega sveta in zato se ni čuditi, da se ravno v prestolnici Santo Domingo nahajajo najstarejše zapuščine kolonijalcev. Ustanovil jo je Bartholomew Columbus in sicer že davnega leta 1496, danes pa je to eno izmed bolj poseljenih mest Dominikanske republike in tudi eno izmed živahnejših.
